JKPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 – Eligibility Criteria
If you are planning to apply for the JKPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026, make sure you meet the following eligibility conditions.
1. Educational Qualification
- You must have a Master's Degree in the concerned/relevant subject.
- You should have at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade.
- SC/ST/PwD candidates need only 50% marks.
- Your degree must be from a recognized Indian University or an equivalent foreign university.
2. NET / SLET / SET Qualification
- You should have qualified UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, SLET, or SET.
- OR
- If you have a Ph.D. as per UGC Regulations (2009/2016 and amendments), you are exempted from NET/SLET/SET.
3. Ph.D. Candidates Registered Before 11 July 2009
NET/SLET/SET is not required if you fulfill all the following conditions:
- Ph.D. awarded in regular mode from a recognized university.
- Thesis evaluated by at least two external examiners.
- Open Ph.D. Viva-Voce successfully conducted.
- Published at least two research papers from your Ph.D. work, including one in a refereed journal.
- Presented at least two research papers in conferences/seminars based on your Ph.D. work.
- These conditions must be certified by the Registrar or Dean (Academic Affairs) of the concerned university.
4. Subjects Where NET is Not Conducted
If NET/SLET/SET is not conducted in your subject by UGC/CSIR or any recognized agency, then NET qualification is not mandatory.
5. Foreign Ph.D. Holders
You are also eligible if you have obtained your Ph.D. from a foreign university ranked among the Top 500 Universities in the world by any one of the following rankings:
- QS World University Rankings
- Times Higher Education (THE)
- Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU)
6. Special Eligibility for Music Subject
For the Music discipline, candidates can also apply if they are a traditional/professional artist who fulfills the following:
- Trained under a reputed traditional master/artist.
- Recognized as an "A" Grade Artist by AIR/Doordarshan.
- Can explain the subject effectively.
- Has adequate knowledge to teach both theory and practical aspects.
