J&K School Education Department Issues Guidelines on Multiple PG Qualifications for Teachers
The Jammu & Kashmir School Education Department has issued Circular No. 06-JK (Edu) of 2026, dated 07 July 2026, regarding the consideration of teachers holding more than one Post-Graduate (PG) qualification for seniority and promotion.
According to the circular, only one PG subject will be recognized for fixation of seniority and promotion. Teachers possessing multiple PG degrees must submit a one-time written option within 30 days to choose the PG subject they wish to be considered under. Once exercised, this option will be final and irrevocable.
The department has directed all concerned authorities to ensure strict compliance, aiming to bring uniformity, transparency, and effective cadre management in the School Education Department.
