Government Order Details
According to Government Order No. 230-JK(Edu) of 2026 dated 15 June 2026, the School Education Department has nominated Mr. Thannaji Bhat, Under Secretary to Government, as the Nodal Officer for examination, monitoring, coordination, and supervision of all matters related to implementation of the Supreme Court judgment in ReT cases.
Why Was This Order Issued?
The Hon'ble Supreme Court directed the Government to consider candidates included in duly constituted ReT select panels against available vacancies and to examine various issues including:
- Minimum educational qualifications.
- Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualification.
- Regularization status.
- Determination of seniority.
- Verification of select panel records.
Since these matters involve records from multiple districts and education offices across Jammu and Kashmir, the Government felt the need to appoint a dedicated Nodal Officer to ensure proper coordination and timely implementation of the Court's directions.

The Nodal Officer will perform the following responsibilities:
- Coordinate with the Law Department and other concerned authorities.
- Work with Directorate of School Education Jammu and Kashmir for collection and verification of records.
- Monitor information regarding advertisements, select panels, appointments, vacancies, educational qualifications, TET status, and regularization.
- Maintain and update a consolidated database of all cases covered under the judgment.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the Government concerning the matter.
What Does This Mean for ReT Candidates?
This order does not announce appointments for ReT candidates. However, it marks an important administrative step toward implementation of the Supreme Court judgment. The Government has now formally initiated the process of examining records, verifying eligibility conditions, and coordinating district-wise information required for compliance with the Court's directions.
The order is related to monitoring and implementation of the Supreme Court judgment. Any future decisions regarding appointments, vacancies, seniority, regularization, or eligibility will be subject to verification and further Government action.
The appointment of a Nodal Officer by the J&K School Education Department represents a significant step towards implementation of the Hon'ble Supreme Court's directions in ReT matters. ReT candidates are advised to stay updated through official Government notifications and Department orders.
