J&K State Eligibility Test (TET) Mandatory for Becoming Teacher
The Government of Jammu & Kashmir has made it compulsory to qualify the J&K State Eligibility Test (TET) for anyone who wants to become a teacher in the Union Territory. The decision has been taken in compliance with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court and the provisions of the Right to Education (RTE) Act.
TET Mandatory for New Recruitment
All candidates applying for new teacher posts must qualify TET
Without TET, no appointment will be made in government or private schools (except minority institutions with temporary exemption)
TET for In-Service Teachers
Teachers with more than 5 years of service left must pass TET within 2 years
Teachers with less than 5 years to retirement can continue without TET
But TET is required for promotion in all cases
Conducting Authority
The TET exam in J&K will be conducted by:
➡️ JKBOSE / State School Standards Authority (SSSA)
➡️ Application mode: Online
➡️ Exam centres: District headquarters, Srinagar & Jammu
➡️ Syllabus: Based on NCTE TET pattern
Important Note
Minority institutions are temporarily exempted
The full TET process for in-service teachers will be completed within 2 years
Conclusion
TET has now become a mandatory qualification for becoming a teacher in J&K. Aspirants and in-service teachers are advised to start preparation early to secure their jobs and promotions.
