How to Solve JKSET Paper — Smart Strategy with Elimination Method
JKSET 2025 will be conducted on 7th September 2025. The biggest relief for aspirants is that this year’s exam has NO negative marking. This single factor completely changes your exam approach: you must attempt all questions without any fear. Even if you are not sure of an answer, attempting it gives you a chance to score, while leaving it blank gives you nothing.
Many students prepare well for JKSET but struggle during the actual paper. They either waste too much time on tough questions, leave many blanks, or make random guesses without any logic. In this blog, I will share a three-step smart strategy that combines confidence, elimination, and probability. If followed properly, this method can help you attempt the full paper with maximum accuracy.
Step 1: Attempt Easy Questions First
The first step is to quickly complete the questions you are sure about. These are your strength-based questions where you don’t need to think much.
- Read the paper calmly and identify easy questions first.
- Mark those answers quickly — this saves both time and energy.
- This also boosts confidence because you start the paper on a strong note.
Example: In a JKSET paper of 150 questions, you might find around 120–130 easy or moderate ones. Complete these first in about 45 minutes. Don’t spend more than 30–40 seconds on each question at this stage.
Step 2: Apply the Elimination Method
After finishing easy ones, you will face questions where you are unsure. Here you must use the elimination method. This means cutting off the obviously wrong options and narrowing down the choices.
- If you can eliminate 2 wrong answers out of 4, you are left with 2 choices.
- Now your chance of being correct increases to 50% instead of random guessing.
- Many times, logical reasoning or recalling partial knowledge is enough to strike out incorrect options.
Example: A question gives you four options, and you are sure that two cannot be correct. Instead of leaving the question, choose one from the remaining two. With no negative marking, this attempt can bring you additional marks.
Step 3: Smart Guessing with Least-Used Option Rule
Now comes the final stage: questions where you have no idea at all. In this situation, instead of guessing randomly, follow this proven technique:
- After attempting around 130 questions, count how many times you marked each option (A, B, C, D).
- Find the option that you used least.
- For the remaining 20 unanswered questions, mark that least-used option.
Example: Out of 130 attempted questions, suppose your answers look like this:
- Option A: 22 times
- Option B: 35 times
- Option C: 40 times
- Option D: 33 times
Here, Option A is the least used. So for the 20 questions you don’t know, you should choose Option A. Why? Because exam setters generally distribute correct answers across all options almost equally. By balancing your answers, you increase the probability of hitting the correct ones.
Why This Three-Step Strategy Works
- Maximizes attempts: You don’t leave any question blank.
- Saves time: Easy ones first, then logical elimination, then quick probability-based guesses.
- Reduces stress: You enter the exam with a clear plan.
- Improves score: Even your guesses are intelligent, not random.
Suggested Time Management
- First 45 minutes: Attempt all easy questions (about 120–130).
- Next 30 minutes: Use elimination method on doubtful questions.
- Last 15 minutes: Apply least-used option rule for the rest.
This way, you can attempt the full paper within 1.5 hours comfortably, and still have some buffer time left for revision.

- Keep practicing with JKSET previous year papers to improve speed and accuracy.
