Eligibility Criteria
The selection and eligibility criteria will be governed by Government Order No. 382-JK(HME) of 2024 and Government Order No. 383-JK(HME) of 2024, both dated 20 June 2024.
Candidates should possess the prescribed medical qualifications and professional registration relevant to the respective specialty. Applicants are advised to check the official notification carefully to confirm their eligibility before submitting the application.
Age Limit
The maximum age limit for eligibility is 50 years as on the cutoff date. The last date for receipt of applications, i.e. 24 October 2026, will be treated as the cutoff date for determining eligibility.
Application Fee
Candidates must submit a non-refundable bank draft of ₹500 issued by J&K Bank in favour of the Principal, Government Medical College, Udhampur.
Documents Required
Applicants should attach self-attested copies of the relevant documents, including:
- Date of Birth Certificate, 10th Diploma/Mark Sheet or another valid document.
- MBBS, Diploma, MD, MS, DNB, MCh, DM and relevant qualification mark sheets, as applicable.
- Attempt certificates for 1st, 2nd, Pre-final and Final MBBS examinations.
- MBBS degree and MCI/NMC/State Medical Council registration certificate.
- Internship completion certificate.
- Certificates of distinctions, scholarships, honours, medals or academic merit, if any.
- House-job certificate issued by the concerned Principal or equivalent authority.
- FMGE certificate, where applicable for candidates with medical qualifications obtained outside India.
- Professional publications in a standard medical journal, if any.
Selection Process
Selection will be made according to the prescribed government orders and the criteria mentioned in the official notification.
If a written examination is conducted, the question paper will consist of 50 multiple-choice questions carrying 2 marks each, for a total of 100 marks. Negative marking of one-fourth of the allotted marks, i.e. 0.5 marks per incorrect answer, will apply.
Tenure of Engagement
The engagement will be made on an academic arrangement basis. The maximum tenure of a Senior Resident will be three years, without further extension, subject to the terms and conditions specified in the notification.
