1. Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree or equivalent from a UGC-recognized University/Institution.
Minimum Marks Required
- General/Unreserved Category: Minimum 55% marks (without rounding off).
- Reserved Categories (50% Marks Required):
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)
- Scheduled Caste (SC)
- Scheduled Tribe (ST)
- Persons with Disabilities (PwD)
- Third Gender / Transgender
Transgender candidates are also entitled to the same relaxation in application fee and age (where applicable) as admissible to SC/ST candidates.
2. Can Final Year PG Students Apply?
Yes.
The following candidates are also eligible to apply:
- Candidates who have appeared in the Master's Degree examination.
- Candidates appearing in the final semester/year.
- Candidates whose results are awaited.
- Candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed.
Such candidates must upload a Bonafide Certificate duly signed by the concerned Head of Department/College/Institute.
- Admission will be purely provisional.
- General category candidates must secure at least 55% marks.
- Reserved category candidates must secure at least 50% marks.
- The Master's Degree must be completed within Two Years from the declaration of the JKSET/LASET result.
- Failure to complete the degree within the prescribed period will lead to cancellation of candidature.
3. Relaxation for Ph.D. Holders
Candidates possessing a Ph.D. Degree whose Master's level examination was completed on or before 19 September 1991 are entitled to a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks.
The minimum marks requirement is reduced from 55% to 50%.
4. Subject Eligibility
Candidates should ordinarily appear only in the same subject in which they have completed their Post-Graduation.
If the Post-Graduation subject is not included in the JKSET/LASET subject list, candidates may appear in the corresponding:
- UGC-NET
- UGC-CSIR NET
- ASRB NET
5. Foreign Degree Holders
Candidates possessing a Postgraduate Degree, Diploma or Certificate from a foreign University/Institution must obtain an Equivalence Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.
