Jkpsc Rejection Notice For The Post Lecturer Geography

JKPSC Rejects Lecturer Geography Candidature Over Age Eligibility

The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has issued a notice dated 24 December 2025 regarding the rejection of a candidature for the post of Lecturer (Geography) in the School Education Department.

According to the notice, the posts were advertised under Notification No. 07-PSC (DR-P) of 2024, with the upper age limit for candidates in the Open Merit (OM) category fixed at 40 years as on 1 January 2024. After the written examination held on 27 September 2025, candidates who qualified were subjected to eligibility scrutiny.

The Commission found that Mr. Mohammad Shafi Dar, who applied under the RBA category, was considered against an OM category post. With a date of birth of 04 October 1982, his age was calculated as 41 years, 2 months, and 27 days on the cut-off date, making him over-aged for the OM category.

As a result, JKPSC rejected his candidature for the Lecturer Geography post. However, the Commission has provided an opportunity for appeal. The candidate may approach the Appellate Authority of JKPSC within 10 days of the notice, along with supporting evidence. No claims will be entertained after the stipulated period.

This decision highlights the importance of closely adhering to category-wise eligibility conditions, especially age limits, while applying for government recruitment examinations.
