Weather Alert: Heavy Rain & Snow Predicted in Jammu & Kashmir (Oct 5–7, 2025)

The India Meteorological Department has issued a weather advisory for Jammu & Kashmir and nearby regions, warning of widespread rain and snow due to an active western disturbance from October 5 to 7, 2025.

As Per Advisory Notice

Moderate to heavy snowfall is expected over higher reaches like Anantnag-Pahalgam, Sonamarg-Zojila, and Gulmarg.

Heavy rain is likely over the plains of Kashmir and Jammu division.

The region may witness thunderstorms,

lightning, hailstorms, and strong winds (40–70 km/h).

Probable Impacts:

Disruption in transport, including Jammu-Srinagar and Srinagar-Leh highways.

Risk of severe thunderstorms and gusty winds.

Increased chance of landslides and shooting stones in vulnerable areas.

Farmers advised to halt operations during this period.

Rising water levels in rivers and low-lying areas.
