JKSET 2026 Eligibility Criteria –
The Jammu & Kashmir State Eligibility Test (JKSET) is conducted every year by the University of Jammu (as the nodal agency). The exam is held to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor in colleges and universities of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.
It is to be expected that the next JKSET exam is expected in 2026. Although the official notification is not yet released, aspirants have enough time to start their preparation in advance. The detailed eligibility criteria as per the official guidelines are provided below.
Eligibility Criteria for JKSET 2026
1. Minimum Educational Qualification
Candidates must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from UGC-recognized universities/institutions.
SC/ST/PwD/Transgender candidates are eligible with 50% marks in Master’s Degree or equivalent.
2. Candidates Appearing in Final Year
Students who have appeared or will be appearing in their Master’s degree final exams are also eligible.
However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and must complete their degree with the required percentage within two years of the JKSET result declaration.
3. Ph.D. Degree Holders
Candidates holding a Ph.D. degree and whose Master’s degree was completed by 19th September 1991 are eligible for a 5% relaxation (i.e., 50% instead of 55%).
4. Subject Selection
Candidates must appear in the subject of their Post-Graduation only.
If their subject is not listed under JKSET, they may appear in UGC-NET or CSIR-NET.
5. Foreign/Other Equivalent Degrees
Candidates with a foreign degree/diploma must ensure its equivalence with Indian Master’s degrees from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.
