- To avail benefits under the State Marriage Assistance Scheme, applicants must fulfill the following conditions:
- 1. Age Requirement – The girl must have attained the legal age of marriage, i.e., 18 years or above.
- 2. Family Category – The family must belong to the AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana) or PHH (Priority Household) category, as reflected in the ration card.
- 3. Educational Qualification –Up to 31 March 2025: School dropouts are also eligible.
- From 1 April 2025 onwards: The girl must have at least 8th pass or equivalent certificate.

- ₹50,000 one-time financial assistance.
- Paid before marriage. For Girls belonging To Bpl Families PHH Holders And Rs 75000 Belonging to AAY Families.
- Amount sent via DBT (direct to bank account).
- Implementing agency: Social Welfare Department, J&K.
- Application Timing – Application must be submitted at least one month before the scheduled date of marriage to the concerned District Social Welfare Office.
5. No Similar Benefit – The applicant must not be receiving assistance from any other scheme for the same purpose (e.g., Ladli Beti Scheme).
Timing: The amount is released before the date of marriage to ensure timely support.
Implementing Agency: The scheme is managed by the Social Welfare Department, Government of Jammu & Kashmir.

- How to Apply for SMAS in J&K
1. Visit to the https://jansugam.jk.gov.in/ least one month before the marriage.
2. Collect documents Submit Online For Concerned Social Welfare Department download the application form for SMAS.
3. Fill in the details carefully and attach all required documents.
4. Submit the form along with marriage proof and ration card copy.
5. Once verified, the Social Welfare Department will release the financial assistance directly into the girl’s bank account.
