No Posts Available For Direct Recruitment of Teachers in J&K for Now – Here’s Why
If you’re waiting for new teacher vacancies under the Direct Recruitment Quota in Jammu & Kashmir, there’s some important news you should know.
📜 What the Government Order Says
According to G.O. No. 20-Edu of 2019 (dated 22 January 2019), all existing and upcoming General Line Teacher vacancies under the Direct Recruitment Quota have been converted into “Teacher Grade II” posts.
This is not a permanent change. The original General Line Teacher posts will only return after the government gradually restores them.

🔄 How Restoration Will Happen
The restoration will happen slowly, and only when the 28,736 supernumerary (extra) posts created earlier become vacant.
Vacancies will appear only if current teachers:
• Resign
• Retire
• Pass away
• Get promoted
• Leave the post for any other reason
What This Means for Job Seekers
• No new direct recruitment teacher posts are available right now.
• Even if a teacher leaves, their vacancy is first used to adjust the extra posts created earlier.
• Recruitment through the Direct Recruitment Quota will only resume after many of those 28,736 posts are vacated, which could take much time.
If you were expecting teacher recruitment in the near future through direct recruitment, you may have to wait longer. The government is prioritizing adjusting existing posts before announcing any fresh vacancies.
