J&K College Contractual Lecturer Salary 2025 – Complete Details
The Government of Jammu & Kashmir Higher Education has fixed the salary structure for contractual and academic arrangement staff working in different colleges of the Union Territory. Every year a large number of lecturers and teaching assistants are engaged on need basis basis to meet the shortage of permanent faculty. If you had applied in 2025 notification, it is important to know the exact salary and terms of engagement.
Monthly Salary for Academic Arrangement Staff
As per Government Order No. 219-HE of 2018, the remuneration is as follows:
• Lecturer (Academic Arrangement): ₹28,000 per month
• Teaching Assistant (Academic Arrangement): ₹22,000 per month
This payment is consolidated and does not include additional allowances.
Guest Faculty Salary
In addition to contractual staff, colleges may also hire guest faculty on lecture basis.
• ₹600 per lecture (60 minutes)
• Maximum ₹1200 per day
• In no case exceeding ₹25,000 per month
• The payment includes evaluation and assessment duties
Visiting Faculty Salary
For specialized lectures, experienced scholars and retired professors may be invited as Visiting Faculty.
Honorarium: ₹1000 per lecture
Limit: Not more than 10 lectures in one academic session
Important Points to Note
No remuneration is paid during winter vacations in Winter Zone colleges and summer vacations in Summer Zone colleges.
Engagement is purely temporary and based on the needs of the college.
Guest faculty cannot be appointed for more than six months in an academic session.
Selection is made strictly on the basis of merit and eligibility.
The salary of contractual lecturers in J&K colleges is fixed at ₹28,000 per month, while teaching assistants receive ₹22,000 per month. Guest faculty and visiting faculty are paid on a lecture basis with limits as mentioned above. Though the pay is modest compared to permanent faculty, these positions provide valuable teaching experience and are a good opportunity for young aspirants in higher education.
