J&K College Contractual Lecturers Seek Salary Hike: A Humble Appeal to JKUT Administration

Justice for J&K College Contractual Lecturers: A Humble Request for Fair Remuneration

College Contractual Lecturers engaged under academic arrangements in Jammu and Kashmir have been playing an important role in supporting higher education. For many years, these dedicated teachers have continued to perform their academic responsibilities with sincerity, commitment and professionalism despite receiving comparatively low remuneration.

At present, the remuneration is around ₹22,000 for Teaching Assistants and ₹28,000 for Lecturers. Considering their qualifications, experience, teaching responsibilities and workload, many contractual lecturers feel that the existing remuneration needs to be reviewed.

These lecturers contribute significantly to the functioning of colleges and undertake teaching and other academic responsibilities that are essential for students. Their long years of service and continued dedication deserve due recognition and fair consideration.

The enhancement of remuneration has therefore remained a long-pending demand of college contractual lecturers. A suitable revision would not only provide financial relief but also boost their morale and recognise their valuable contribution to the education system.

We respectfully request the J&K Administration and JKUT authorities to kindly examine this matter sympathetically and consider enhancing the remuneration to a fair and reasonable level, keeping in view their qualifications, workload, experience and years of service.

We sincerely hope that the concerned authorities will give this genuine concern due consideration and take appropriate steps to resolve this long-pending issue at the earliest, in the larger interest of higher education and the teaching community.
