University of Jammu Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026-27: Apply for Teaching Faculty Posts
The University of Jammu has invited applications from eligible candidates for the engagement of Assistant Professors on a purely temporary and need-based basis for the Academic Session 2026-27.
The engagement is available for various subjects at the Main Campus, Offsite Campuses, Centre for Distance & Online Education, Law School, UIET and other departments of the University.
📚 Subjects / Departments
Vacancies are available in a large number of disciplines including Commerce, Computer Science, Economics, English, Environmental Science, History, Mathematics, Political Science, Psychology, Statistics, Education, Geography, Sociology, Hindi, Urdu, Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Botany, Zoology, Law, Management and several other subjects.
Teaching faculty are also required at Bhaderwah, Kathua, Kishtwar, Ramnagar, Reasi, Poonch and Udhampur Campuses, besides UIET.
Eligibility Criteria
For most Assistant Professor positions, candidates should possess a Master's Degree with at least 55% marks in the concerned/relevant/allied subject.
NET or SLET/SET shall remain the minimum eligibility requirement, subject to exemptions for eligible Ph.D. candidates as prescribed under the applicable UGC regulations.
Separate/specific qualifications have been prescribed for certain disciplines including Remote Sensing & GIS, IME at Bhaderwah Campus, Yoga, MBA-HM, MBA-TTM and UIET. Candidates should carefully read the complete notification before applying.

Selection / Academic Score
The University has prescribed an academic scoring system carrying a total of 100 marks. Marks are assigned for academic qualifications, NET/JRF/SLET/SET, Ph.D., research publications, teaching/post-doctoral experience and eligible awards.
A panel of a maximum of 10 applicants in each course/subject will be prepared as per merit based on the prescribed criteria. Suitable candidates from the panel may be engaged as Assistant Professors depending upon requirements.

Candidates are required to submit their application form along with the prescribed documents on or before 31 July 2026.
How to Apply?
Candidates applying for the Newly Introduced Integrated UG-PG Programme should submit their applications to the Office of the Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu.
Candidates applying for other subjects at the Main/Offsite Campuses should submit their applications to the concerned Head of Department / Director / Rector / Principal / Coordinator, as applicable.
Candidates applying for more than one Department/Campus are required to submit separate application forms along with the required documents for each subject/department/campus.
