CTET Paper 1 Eligibility

Candidates applying for CTET Paper 1 must have any one of the following qualifications:

  • Passed or currently studying in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) with at least 50% marks from a recognized university/institution.
  • Passed or in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education with at least 45% marks, as per the NCTE Regulations, 2002.
  • Passed or in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) with at least 50% marks from a recognized university/institution.
  • Passed or in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Special Education with at least 50% marks from a recognized university/institution.
  • Completed Graduation with at least 50% marks along with a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree from a recognized university/institution.

CTET Paper 2 Eligibility

Candidates applying for CTET Paper 2 must have any one of the following qualifications:

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or currently in the first year of a B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) program from a recognized university/institution.
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or currently in the first year of B.Ed, as per NCTE Regulations.
  • Senior Secondary (Class 12 or equivalent) with at least 50% marks, along with a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • Senior Secondary (Class 12 or equivalent) with at least 50% marks, along with a 4-year integrated course such as B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or currently in the final year of B.Ed (Special Education).
  • Graduates with B.Ed degrees recognized by NCTE are also eligible to appear for CTET/TET.
  • Paper I: For candidates intending to teach Classes I to V (Primary Stage).
  • Paper II: For candidates intending to teach Classes VI to VIII (Elementary Stage).
  • If you wish to teach both levels, you can apply for both Paper I and Paper II.
  • Relaxation of 5% in the qualifying marks for candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC/Differently-abled categories.
  • Applicants should have completed their graduation (or equivalent) and meet the minimum educational requirements specified by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

The CTET is a Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) based exam with no negative marking. Each question carries one mark, and the total number of questions in each paper is 150. The total exam duration is 2.5 hours for each paper.
